-Jacquelyn Fedyk- My blog is about making stuff and telling stories.
Climbing out of my personal primordial ooze to take my place among the creators, I would love for you to see the world through my eyes. I will create for you, dear reader, a place to escape through my dreams, thoughts and experiences, I hope you enjoy it.
In the playful flirtatious words of Gypsy Rose Lee, “Let me entertain you.”
Widgets: To the right of my page are widgets to my band, The Little Black Bottles, albums and to the books I’ve written on blurb.com. Check um out!
31 Pieces: A social art experiment, 31 Pieces was a collection of drawings I did based on random suggestions from 31 different people. The drawings were done on scraps of an 18×24 inch piece paper that I tore into 31 empty canvases. I created and posted a small drawing everyday during March 2011. At the end of the month I spent several hours sewing the tiny drawings back together into one whole unit that displayed the random ideas of 31 different people. Each post in 31 Pieces contains a drawing requested by a reader and my thoughts about the request or a little story about what I created.
Daily Something or Other: This category is for personal news and thoughts that I share with my readers.
I Made This: A collection of my creations. A place to share art, writing and photography.
Live From the Watermelon Room: My creative space is called The Watermelon Room. I painted the walls like the outside of a watermelon. Here I create and edit videos. Live from the Watermelon Room is a collection of my video experiments.
Made of Words: Here I experiment with text in my drawings.
Miscellaneous Adventures: Here I write about my most interesting personal experiences.
Poem a Day December: I wrote a poem a day for the entire month of December 2010 based on suggestions by my readers.
Realm of Unfinished Projects: I am constantly processing many different ideas. It’s not uncommon for me to have about 15 projects going on at once. Here I try to focus and finish my pieces. Having an audience really drives me to finish the work on these projects. When I complete a project I post updates here.
The Church of the Sacred Heart of the Dreamer: I have not been able to find solace in an organized religion, but I do recognize that I have spiritual side. I experience the divine with my relationship to creativity. So, I thought I might try experimenting with creating my own church based on artists and art. To me, life is about creating, experimenting, growing and experiencing. I’m trying to figure out how to build a religion on these ideas…just to see if I can.
My own personal organic school of art that I created for myself. I use free public resources to educate myself in creative ways. The school is named after Ray Bradbury because I was inspired to educate myself after learning that he never went to college. Bradbury says he spent 10 years in his local library educating himself. The Ray Bradbury School of Creative Arts is not a real place, except in my own imagination.
Actuate is a subcategory under The Ray Bradbury School of Creative Arts. In Actuate I research other artists and let them inspire me to create my own project.
Here I study and mimic the art of Cindy Sherman. I experiment with transforming myself into different characters and take self-portraits. I learn everything I can about the artist Cindy Sherman, using the tools freely available to me and experiment with that knowledge.
Here you can take a look at my stop-motion experiments as I study animation.
This is where I archive my experiments in time-lapse filming.
I bought 100 Vintage DC Comic Postcards. I invent ridiculous adventures, write them down and send them out to readers who email me their name and address.
